Atlanta
If you find yourself with any extra time in Atlanta, we'd like to offer some our favorites as suggestions. We love the Midtown/Virginia Highlands area; it's where we live, where the Hyatt hotel is, and where the wedding ceremony/reception festivities will take place. So please enjoy if you have the time!
Food and Drink:
Krog Bar - Quaint place with relaxing patio. Chopped Champion and Iron Chef winner, Chef Kevin Rathbun. Excellent tapas, wine and libations. Google Map.
Goin Coastal - Sam and I are regulars here. Excellent Sunday brunch. Google Map.
Antico - The best pizza in Atlanta, and arguably in America. Since starting Antico, the owner has built up the surrounding area with other restaurants, a Limoncello bar, and a Gelato spot; the area is adorable and everything is delicious! Google Map.
You cannot go wrong with any of Ford Fry's restaurants; The Optimist or JCT on the westdide, or 246 in Decatur. Another fun new thing in ATL is the Krog Street Market for food and fun stuff to browse and buy!
Our suggestions barely sctacth the surface of what this city has to offer - take a look at this list if you are interested in other possibilities! Atlanta Magazine - 50 Best Restaurants
To Do:
Piedmont Park - We love the park and spend a lot of time in it, especially with our dog Lady. Hence why our wedding festivities are right on the park! Feel free to take a walk, feed the ducks, play Frisbee, etc. Google Map.
Sweetwater Brewery - Popular Atlanta based brewery. Sweetwater Blue is my favorite :). Enjoy a brewery tour and/or tasting! Google Map.
Beltline - Take a stroll down the beltline. Enjoy the art, the interesting people you'll see and the eclectic shops and restaurants you may come across. If you make it to Paris on Ponce, you won't regret it. Google Map.
Other Stuff Outside the Neighborhood:
The West Side - This is an area that has sprung up with restaurants, shops and fun in the past few years. It's defnitely a great place to spend a few hours browsing and dining!
Lenox and Phipps Mall - Almost every store you can imagine!
There are so many things to do here! Here's a fun list of more touristy type stuff Best Things To Do In Atlanta.
